Instructions
  1. You'll need the type of egg carton that has cups with square bottoms. Cut off two cups and trim them so that the tops are level, about 3/4-inch high.

  2. Using a pushpin, poke a hole in the center of each cup's bottom. Join the tops of the cups with tacky glue.

  3. Paint the cups with acrylic craft paint and let them dry.

  4. Cut a bamboo skewer 3 1/2 inches from the pointed end and thread it through the cups. Position the skewer so that 3/4 inch of the point protrudes from the base.

  5. Add a drop of glue to the top and bottom holes to hold the skewer in place. Write the Hebrew letters nun (נ), gimel (ג), hei (ה), and shin (שּׁ) with dimensional fabric paint on the four sides of the top.

How to play dreidel: Each player begins with a pile of chocolate coins. At the start, and whenever the pot is empty, each player antes up one coin. Players take turns spinning: nun gets you nothing; gimel, you take the whole pot; hei, you take half; shin, you add a coin.
