Materials
8 1/2-by-11-inch pieces of oak tag or heavy paper (one for each child)
Colored markers or crayons
Scissors
Glue sticks or rubber cement
Photographs, artwork and other memorabilia from the last year
Three-ring binders (one for each child)
When my daughter was very young, I remembered the passing year's highlights by putting
together a book of family photos on New Year's Eve. This one-page, mixed-media version lets kids do the same. Start by having them write the year at the top of a sheet of oak tag, and block off a space for recording a few personal statistics--age, height, weight, teeth lost and so on. Then have them cut up and glue on photos, ticket stubs and other reminders of the year gone by. Add captions, if needed. Punch holes along one edge and place the page in a three-ring binder, adding a new installment each year.
