This dessert proves that birthday cakes need not always take center stage. For easier handling, make the cones in batches of four.
Begin by melting a dark-chocolate bar over a double boiler (or in the microwave).
With a brush, paint a thin layer of chocolate onto four sugar cones and set aside.
Place four ice-cream scoops on a cookie sheet lined with waxed paper, then wedge on the hats.
Decorate each face with candy and coconut.
Freeze for at least two hours, then peel off and place on dessert plates.
