A rock'n'roll fantasy from FamilyFun
This simple clapper board cake, touting your child's age, is right in keeping with the party's video theme.
First, prepare the batter according to your favorite recipe and bake it in a rectangular pan.
Allow the cake to cool completely, then turn it out on a large serving tray.
To create the arm of the clapper board, make a slice about two inches down from the edge of one of the cake's short sides and across its entire width.
Carefully position the arm at an angle, as shown in the photograph below.
Frost the entire clapper board with white icing.
To create dark stripes on the arm and along the lower edge of the "slate," add chocolate graham-cracker sections.
Finally, use piped, colored frosting to boldly print TAKE 11 (or whatever year your birthday child happens to be celebrating) atop the slate.
Serve the cake with the guest of honor's favorite ice -cream flavor.
