Valentine Parties: A Valentine's Day Party Guide
Valentine's Day Party
Question I'm planning a Valentine's Day party for my scout troop. Along with fun food and game ideas, I need help coming up with some simple homemade gifts the kids can make for family members. Do you have any suggestions?

Answer Who can resist a holiday devoted to red and pink crafts, love notes, and heart-shaped snacks? Indulge in all three, and you've got a great way to celebrate the day. Check out the following ideas to help set the mood, and your troop will soon be partying to their hearts' content.

When it comes to memorable tokens of affection, homemade valentines are the definitive winners. Kids can surprise their own sweeties by crafting a Puzzle Pin or love bead jewelry for Mom, a Heart Key Chain or a Sweet Pea Pot for Dad, and Candy Necklaces or Beading Hearts for a sibling or dear pal. For a really unique presentation, include a Loving Hands card along with the gift.

Every party has to have a game or two. Kids can enjoy rounds of Valentine Rap or go on a Romantic Rock Hunt, both games that result in cute gifts to give. And they're sure to be delighted by Cupid's Tree, a scavenger hunt that doubles as a craft activity and ends with a tiny treat for themselves.

Finally, take a break from the fun to serve up some sweets. These Cupid's Cupcakes and Sweetheart Brownies, served with strawberry ice cream and glasses of fruity Love Potion, are sure to satisfy even the heartiest appetites.
