Star of David

Holiday traditions from FamilyFun
4 of 10
Representing David, the Jews' greatest hero-king, the six-pointed star graces the Israeli flag and is Judaism's most recognized symbol worldwide. This decoration is a cinch to make, but parents should supervise carefully: The points and edges of the star are sharp.

MATERIALS Sturdy scissors
Aluminum-foil pie plate
Bright-colored paint
Paintbrush
Gold or silver pens (optional)
Ribbon, yarn or thread

Cut off the fluted edge of the pie plate. Draw a six-pointed Star of David on the foil circle. Cut out the star and paint both sides with a bright color. You can decorate the middle of the star with the word "shalom," which means "peace" in Hebrew. Punch a hole in the top of the star, thread it with string or yarn, and hang your star inside the house.
