Girl Scout troop leaders are experts at entertaining packs of kids. We reached out to Girl Scout volunteers across the nation, asking for their best group activities. A flood of inspiring stories and ingenious ideas came in from hundreds of troops. Here's one of our favorites.
TROOP: Brownie Troop 96
HOMETOWN: Scottsville, New York
LEADERS: Jennifer Ozminkowski and Faith Phelps
What They Did: As part of their participation in the PJ Roundup (an annual event to collect new warm pajamas, slippers, and robes for women and children staying in local shelters), the troop had a sleepover. Each girl was asked to wear her pj's and bring an extra pair for charity. They collected more than a dozen pajamas for donation.
Why They Love This Idea: It's a fantastic way to learn about the impact of banding together in service of a great cause. "One set of pajamas may not seem like a lot," notes Jennifer. "But when each girl in the troop brings in one pair, they realize how much more they can do together."
