Games, crafts and creative activities for infants, toddlers and preschoolers, in a friendly, accessible layout. A "sing along" section at the end of each chapter makes song lyrics easy to find when you're in the mood for a ditty.

ENTERTAINING AND EDUCATING BABIES AND TODDLERS By Robyn Gee And Susan Meredith (Usborne Publishing). Handily organized under-your-nose play ideas for parents and babies, birth to 2 1/2 years old. Excellent music section, complete with words and actions for favorite rhymes and finger plays, plus a handy chart of child development milestones. Instructive, inspiring color illustrations on every page.

BABY GAMES by Elaine Martin (Running Press, 1988). Hundreds of games and songs for every time of day, and for every stage of baby- and toddlerhood.

YOUR CHILD AT PLAY: BIRTH TO ONE YEAR by Marilyn Segal, Ph. D. Month-by-month guide to the first year of child development, with dozens of complimentary activities, most illustrated with photographs. Revised for 1998. Also available: Your One-Year-Old, Your Two-Year-Old, and so on, up to age five.
