Little Helpers: Simple Ways to Make Housework Fun for Tots

Ages: 2 years and up

Kids Can Help Clean the House The boa on this sock puppet is more than just fun -- it acts like an old-fashioned feather duster.

Materials
  • Sock
  • Fabric marker
  • Scissors
  • 30-inch piece of feather boa (available at craft stores)
Instructions
  1. Using a fabric marker, draw eyes on the sock.

  2. About 3 inches up from the eyes, cut 1 1/4-inch slits lengthwise every inch or so around the sock.

  3. Loosely weave the boa in and out of the slits until you've completely circled the sock. Now circle it again, but skip the first hole so the boa covers the rest of the exposed sock.

  4. After the second pass, tie together the ends and cut off any excess.
