10 Ways to Have Fun with a Frisbee

It's an aerodynamic wonder, an international sporting phenomenon -- and one heck of a dog toy. It's the flying disk, of course, and your family's ticket to high-flying fun.

Play Catch Ask any Frisbee©-catching dog where not to throw his favorite disk, and he'll say roof! Barring such a mishap, almost any healthy adult dog that likes to fetch can be taught to make one spectacular catch after another. Here's how.

1. First things first. All Frisbee© dogs must wear a bandanna. It's the law. Now start the training by rolling the Frisbee© on its edge and letting your dog chase it down.

2. Once your pet learns how to retrieve and drop a rolled disk, graduate to a short, flat, and low throw. (Note: some dogs might prefer the softer disks made specially for dogs.) Never throw the disk directly at your dog! Gradually progress to longer and higher throws. It may take anywhere from a few minutes to a few months before your pet learns to coordinate a midair catch, but with patience and encouragement, he could one day have humans saying (bow) wow!
