Weather Watching Jars
Turn your tot into a mini meteorologist with this easy project that forecasts plenty of learning, rain or shine. Begin by labeling empty plastic jars with the typical weather patterns in your area (sunny, rainy, cloudy, windy), then set out the jars and a dish of 31 pom-poms. Each day, you and your child can look outside to determine the weather, then drop a pom-pom into the corresponding jar. At the end of the month, she can use her burgeoning counting skills to add up the number of pom-poms in each jar (an older sibling might even like to graph the results), and then you can talk about -- what else? -- the weather!
