Kids at your bowling party will be pinned to their seats when you break out this clever bowling pin and ball birthday cake.
- Ingredients
-
- 2 baked 13-by-9-by-2-inch cakes
- 1 dome chocolate cake (baked in a 2 1/2-quart bowl)
- 2 cups white frosting
- 2 cups chocolate frosting
- 3 tea light candles
- Red Fruit by the Foot
- Red decorators' icing
- Instructions
-
-
Arrange one 13-by-9-inch cake on a large platter or cake cardboard. Slice a rectangle off the bottom of the second 13-by-9-inch cake and place it below the first cake as shown. -
Trim the cake into a bowling pin, as shown, and spread with white frosting. Add a Fruit by the Foot stripe. -
To create the bowling ball cut out a circle from the remaining piece of the second 13 by 9-inch cake. To do this, trace around the bowl that your dome cake was baked in with a knife. -
Place the circle on top of the pin cake, spread chocolate frosting on it, and top with the dome cake as shown. Trim around the cake sides to make a smooth ball shape.
-
For the finger holes, scoop out three circles on the bowling ball and place a tea light candle in each hole.
-
Cover the bowling ball with chocolate frosting. Print your child's name and age with red decorators' icing. Serves 20-24.
