Fill a small plastic tub half full with whipping cream. Place two or three clean marbles inside. -
Seal the tub, then shake it vigorously for about 15 minutes. The cream will separate into butter lumps and buttermilk. -
Pour off the liquid. Wrap the butter in a paper towel or clean dish towel and squeeze out any remaining liquid. Add salt, if desired, and serve.

- Notes:
- * What does this have to do with African American History Month? In 1891, African-American inventor A.C. Richardson patented a better butter churn.
