More than S'mores for the Great Outdoors

Great recipes for the campfire, from pan-fried trout to more s'mores than you can handle.

Just being in the fresh air seems to double everyone's appetite. Whether your family is camping in a state park, fishing at a lake or just pitching a tent in your backyard, come sunset, it's a good idea to be prepared with campfire treats like the 16 that we suggest here. The lure of the campfire might even convince your kids to pitch in with the cooking.

They'll love the idea of using sticks instead of pots and pans, and even common mistakes, like slightly burned dough or blackened marshmallows, taste good when they're cooked in a kitchen without walls, chairs or fancy table manners.
