My First Apple Pie

 From FamilyFun Magazine

For a time-saver, use a piecrust mix or a ready-made crust.

Ingredients
  • 1 unbaked double piecrust
  • 5 cups apple slices
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. apple pie spice (or 1/4 tsp. each nutmeg
  • and allspice and 1/2 tsp. cinnamon)
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • 2 tbsp. butter
X

Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Line an 8-inch pie plate with pie dough and trim the edges. Place the apple slices in a large bowl. Add the sugar, flour, apple pie spice and lemon juice, and toss until well combined.

  2. Spoon the mixture into the unbaked piecrust and dot with butter. Fold the top crust in half, set it over the fruit, and unfold. Crimp the edges or press the tines of a fork around the edges to seal. Cut slits in the crust in a decorative pattern.

  3. Bake the pie for 40 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown. Makes 6 servings.
