Artist: Jina Ferraro, award-winning elementary school art teacher

Harriet the Heifer "What a great way to spend time with your children," said Jina Ferraro after she sent us her milk jug sculpture. "Here's an opportunity to talk about art, recycling, and the power of their imagination." This Phoenix-based art teacher and 1995 Arizona Teacher of the Year crafted her fabulous cow from sections of five milk jugs (the legs are made from four gallon-jug handles, the head, from the remaining parts of the gallon jugs, and the body, from a half-gallon jug). She used scissors and an X-Acto knife to cut the jugs, a glue gun to assemble the parts, and acrylic paints for the spots and face.
