ZOO ATLANTA
After breakfast at the hotel, we hit Zoo Atlanta, home to Willie B., a 38-year-old, 439-pound gorilla (named for former mayor William B. Hartsfield), and his daughters Kudzoo and Olympia. In the reptile house (one of the best in the country), Heather was fascinated by two young Komodo dragons. But it was a playful lion cub that most thrilled Sam who shouted, "Mom! It's Simba!" (800 Cherokee Avenue; 404-624-5600; adults, $17; kids ages three to 11, $12). We headed for home pleased by our success at finding the best Atlanta has to offer. Frankly, my dear, we're already looking forward to our next visit. Please keep in mind that phone numbers, addresses, and prices are subject to change. Updated June 2005.
