FEASTS, FIREWORKS AND FIESTAS
If cities were people, San Antonio would be the life of the party. The city's frequent feasts, fireworks, parades and fiestas make it a perfect place to play. Whether meandering down the San Antonio River along the popular 2 1/2-mile Paseo del Rio (River Walk) or visiting historic landmarks, such as The Alamo, visitors can experience a festive blend of Spanish, Mexican, Native American and even German cultures.

WHY FAMILIES LOVE IT
The chance to explore the legend of Davy Crockett and other figures of the Texas Revolution is irresistible for young pioneers. Most families start sightseeing at The Alamo, the shrine where 189 patriots died in 1836 while fighting for Texas' freedom from Mexico. Admission is free. Call 210-281-0710.

TOP OUTDOOR FUN
At Six Flags Fiesta Texas, a 200-acre theme park, kids can enjoy adrenaline-pumping rides like The Joker's Revenge and The Boomerang. Guests who are 48 inches tall or above pay $32.95; guests under 48 inches pay $16.47. Kids under age two are admitted free. Call 800-IS-FIESTA.

DON'T LEAVE TOWN WITHOUT
Taking a Yanaguana Cruise on the San Antonio River. Yanaguana, San Antonio's Payayan Indian name, means "the clear water." The fare is $5.25 for visitors ages six and up and $1 for kids ages five and under. Call 800-417-4139.

YOU COULD SPEND A WHOLE DAY
