"We usually take our kids (ages 7, 5, and 2) to Zion in spring, when it's cooler and not so crowded. Our favorite trails are Weeping Rock, Lower Emerald Pools, and Riverside Walk. The thing I like most about Zion is the landscape -- the park is in the middle of the desert, yet it's home to cascading waterfalls, wildflowers, tree frogs, and cacti. Amazingly, even with all that great scenery, my kids are most fascinated by the wild turkeys wandering around."

"It was 103 degrees when we arrived at Zion Canyon. Thankfully, it wasn't too bad in the shade, and our site at Zion Canyon Campground (just outside the park) was right by the Virgin River. We stayed for a week and used our camp as a base for exploring Zion and taking side trips to Bryce and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. With our two kids (ages 8 and 10) and their grandparents, we caught sunrises and sunsets on the white and red rocks, took lots of hikes (our favorite was to the Emerald Pools), and tubed the river outside the park (they rent tubes in Springdale)."

"My 12-year-old daughter, Ashley, loved wading through the Narrows at Zion National Park. The trail follows the Virgin River for 16 miles, and you can walk right in the water (just check at the visitors' center before you go for flash-flood warnings). Although we walked for only about a mile and the water never got above our knees, Ashley thought it was the biggest adventure she'd ever been on."
