CAVE CITY, CALIFORNIA
Once the site of an 1850s gold rush mining area,
these are the state's oldest show caves. The 80-minute Trail of Lights family tour takes you winding through the caverns past delicate stone vines and drinking straws (young, hollow stalactites), along with marble staircases and crystal lakes.
