HOWES CAVE, NEW YORK

This limestone cave is a real kid-pleaser with pink, green and blue lights illuminating its many columns and draperies. Take a tour that leads to Titan's Temple, the cave's largest room with 55-foot ceilings, where the walls are filled with holes, or grottoes (look carefully to spot a witch's profile). Finish up by following the Winding Way, 300 feet of twisting passageway that at times is just 19 inches wide. Open year-round. Admission is $18 for adults and $9 for kids ages 7 to 12.
