"Michael Jordan doesn't play there anymore." That was 13-year-old Sadie's remark when we first mentioned a weekend trip to Chicago. Clearly, for her, the Windy City's appeal was rather limited. We knew better. Friendly and down-to-earth, Chicago, perched on the western banks of sparkling Lake Michigan, is home to towering skyscrapers, colorful neighborhoods and a bevy of family-friendly museums and parks. What better way to spend a summer weekend?
We also brought along Olivia, a two-year-old bundle of energy, and planned to all explore the city together. Say what? A toddler and teen together in the big city? "Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen," remarked one of our friends. We'll see....
