CINCINNATI ZOO'S WORLD OF INSECTSWind through a maze of 66 displays housing millions of insects, from the foot-long giant centipede to the smaller-than-a-pinhead springtail bug. Kids can take a close-up look at the world's only display of fierce Peruvian bullet ants (one sting is thirty times worse than a bee's) and then stand on a scale to get their weight in bugs (my daughter weighs more than eight million insects). Inside a climate-controlled butterfly aviary, kids can follow passionflower butterflies that flutter above lush tropical vegetation and flowing streams. Zoo admission is $12.95 for adults, $7.95 for kids ages 2 to 12, and free for kids under age 2. Call 800-94-HIPPO.
