Akron
The Pie FactorySet in the Quaker Square complex, this place is just what its name says. Bring home an entire pie, or sit down for a slice of apple, peach, berry, or banana cream with coffee or a glass of milk. If you insist on protein, try pizza, a homemade potpie, soup, or salad. Kids can look through the window into the glassed-in bakery and see how pastry chefs make these delightful concoctions. Quaker Square, 135 S. Broadway, Akron; (330) 252-0552.
Trackside Grill
When historic Quaker Square was still a mill and factory producing Quaker Oats, the railroad that passed right by the building was the company's lifeline. This restaurant honors the railroad's history, decorated with authentic train memorabilia and three 80-ton Broadway Limited railroad cars. Kids love dining on family fare in a real Pullman car. Before you leave, stroll through the restaurant to learn more railroad history. Quaker Square, 135 S. Broadway, Akron; (330) 253-4541.
Cuyahoga Falls
RiverFrontThis restaurant in the Sheraton Suites hotel literally hangs out over the falls and, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows, has a remarkable view that kids love. The unexceptional though varied menu has decent food with lots of kid-friendly choices, such as spaghetti marinara. Have the breakfast buffet, lunch, or an early dinner here (while it's still light) and watch the water gush over the falls. 1989 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls; (330) 929-3000.
