WASHINGTON, D.C.
NATIONAL ZOO'S POLLINARIUMIn the only complete pollinarium in the United States, visitors witness how plants feed animals and animals pollinate plants--an arrangement that keeps everyone happy. Zebra long-wing butterflies and Anna's hummingbirds pollinate fragrant blossoms inside, while honeybees leave their seven-foot glass house to pollinate flowers outside. Scheduled school groups can learn first hand what it's like to work at a zoo during the "How Do You Zoo" exhibit. Kids ages 5 to 10 get to pretend they are animal keepers, veterinarians, and nutritionists by participating in activities involved with caring for wildlife at the zoo. Zoo admission is free.
