THE PLACE: San Francisco, as presented by San Francisco Fire Engine Tours & AdventuresWHO VISITED: Lisa and Matt Smith of Bellevue, Washington, with their son, Ryan, age 8.
WHY THEY LOVED IT: After exploring the sights of hilly San Francisco by foot, the Smith family took their vacation for a ride in a shiny red 1955 fire truck. Captain Robert Katzman and his wife, Marilyn, run and narrate the Fire Engine Tours, one-hour-and-15-minute trips through the city's famous neighborhoods. "Traveling over the Golden Gate Bridge gave us dynamite views," says Lisa, "and Ryan was wowed by wearing a real fireman's coat and ringing the fire bell." Tours are $50 for adults, $40 for kids ages 13 to 17, and $30 for kids ages 12 and under.
