Huron-Manistee National Forest
Our family vacationed at Pines Point in the Huron-Manistee National Forest in Hesperia, Michigan. The attraction is an "oxbow" in the pristine White River that allows canoeists and "tubers" to enter water and exit the river at the same location. The leisurely ride lasts less than two hours and takes one through virgin forest. Nearby is the Loda Lake wildflower sanctuary. This park is delightful in any season. Improved trails meander through a variety of plant habitats from wetlands to orchards. All this is a short drive from the wide, sandy beaches of Lake Michigan.
