By now your family has probably heard of Universal Studios' Escape in Orlando, Florida. If you haven't seen the scores of advertisements for the multibillion-dollar entertainment complex, ask your kids about it.

Most of the hype has been about Islands of Adventure, Universal's theme park with 22 major rides and shows located on 110 acres. With plenty of state-of-the-art attractions to crow about, Islands of Adventure is sure to secure a spot on your family's must-do list if you're planning to visit the area. And as I found out on a recent stop, it's well worth it. Here's the lowdown on Orlando's latest highlight.

Unlike many theme parks, which focus on one population segment, Islands of Adventure has plenty of high-energy, high-tech thrills for every age group. Interactive play areas, such as Seuss Landing, with attractions as cleverly designed and as marvelous to look at as the speediest coaster, offer excitement for younger kids.

Meanwhile, preteens and teenagers will find plenty of stuff to flip over--and be flipped by. Tamer but just as impressive fun can be found in an area that is so wet it qualifies as a miniature waterpark, an island where the focus is atmospheric shows, and finally, a re-created Jurassic Park.

Port of Entry, reasonably enough, is the entrance that leads you to the five park areas, all linked by bridges. From here, families with older kids should veer left and head toward the knockout attractions of Marvel Super Hero Island, while families with younger kids should veer right and enter the imaginative realm of Dr. Seuss.

One-day admission for Islands of Adventure is $59.75 for adults; $48 for kids ages 3 to 9; two and under are free. Call 407-363-8000 to confirm prices and for hours of operation. Or visit their Web site.

All prices are shown without tax.
