We live in Connecticut and do not have a great deal of extra cash for long and wonderful vacations. My husband and I agreed that we would do day trips and explore the area in which we live. The end of August 2002, we took the children and Grandma to Sturbridge Village in Sturbridge, Massachusetts. We loved it. The children were fascinated at the way we could have lived 200 years ago. They could not believe how much work they would have had to do. Our daughter could not get enough information from the spinning ladies and the cheese-making lady. Our son enjoyed the children's games so much that he wanted them for Christmas. Such a wonderful look into our past and all within a short drive from our home. You do not need to go on long faraway excursions to enjoy what is right in your own backyard.
