MUST-SEE ATTRACTIONS
Buccaneer Bay Restaurant
This restaurant inside the Treasure Island Hotel serves up standard kids' fare. It also offers a great view (above the crowds) of the Treasure Island Pirate Battle. Time your visit to the battle so that you can enjoy a feast for the eyes, too. 3300 Las Vegas Blvd. S., Las Vegas; (702) 894-7111.
Rainforest Cafe
This jungle-themed restaurant has animatronic beasts that take turns sounding the calls of the wild. If this isn't noisy enough (it is!), the decibels rise dramatically when a simulated thunderstorm strikes (about once every hour). The food is so-so--during our visit, our orders of Tuscan chicken and Mogambo shrimp were average at best--but portions are large and you might consider splitting an entree. Kids' meals include mini hot dogs and Castaway Pizza (plain cheese or pepperoni) and each comes with a souvenir cup. If you want to avoid the large lunch and dinner crowds, consider coming for breakfast, served from 8 to 11 a.m. Inside the MGM Grand at 3799 Las Vegas Blvd. S., Las Vegas; (702) 891-8580; www.rainforestcafe.com
Sherwood Forest Cafe
This coffeehouse with a kids' menu inside Excalibur is open 24 hours a day and serves breakfast all day long. It's close to the kid-friendly attractions of the hotel, including the lavender dragons that preschoolers love to climb and the Court Jester's Stage, where performers do juggling and clown routines. You can skip dessert here and head instead to the hotel's food court, which includes a Krispy Kreme outlet and the Coldstone Ice Cream shop. 3850 Las Vegas Blvd. S., Las Vegas; (702) 597-7777.
