As a 20-year Charlotte resident, I've always thought the city was a fun place for families to live, with its fantastic libraries, many parks, and beautiful and eclectic outdoor art. But in the last few years, as innovative museums and outdoor attractions have opened, it's blossomed as a destination for visitors. While my family has been to a few of these places, we certainly haven't seen them all, and my 12-year-old son, Charlie, and I were curious about what it would be like to explore our very own city. We especially hoped to find offerings with tween and teen appeal. So, acting as both tourists and tour guides, we set out to revisit our favorite haunts and discover new ones — all in one long weekend.
