WHITAKER CENTER FOR SCIENCE AND THE ARTS
HARRISBURG, PENNSYLVANIA
This 130,000-square-foot space boasts a freestanding theater for live performances, but the real showstoppers are the nine
exhibit areas that use the performing arts to teach science concepts.
Active kids may be surprised to learn how dance, ice skating and gymnastic movements are linked to basic scientific principles. And they'll get a backstage look at how technological advances in lighting and special effects contribute to theatrical experiences, like the live performances staged in the center's theater. In the Kids' Hall, drama-lovers ages eight and under can experiment with sound and light. Admission to the science center is $8.50 for adults, $7 for kids ages 3 to 12.
