TAMPA BAY, FLORIDA
Take a walk on the wild side at Edge of Africa, which opened in Florida in June 1997 at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. At this 15-acre re-created savanna, families can see hyenas pluck fish from a pool, giraffes reach for a snack with their 20-inch tongues, and, in an underwater viewing area, hippos daintily dance in spite of their plump proportions. In the adjacent Serengeti Plain habitat, visitors can spot zebras, gazelles, and rhinos. Admission to Busch Gardens is $55.95 plus tax for visitors ages 10 and up, $45.95 plus tax for children ages three to nine, and free for kids under age three. Call 813-987-5082.Candyce H.
