WHAT IT IS: A piece of snow art that doubles as a handsome buffet table
WHAT YOU NEED: Shovels, pine branches, drinks
We wanted to build something human-size out of snow, but not another snow fort. So we went domestic and fashioned this elegant buffet table. We used shovels to pile up, pack and carve the snow, then decorated the front with pine branches and cones. We set out thermoses filled with hot cocoa and cider, and lots of garnishes, and let the kids loose to create their own concoctions.
TIP: Use the sharp edge of a snow shovel to square up the buffet's sides.
